UPDATE ON JUNGLE POCKET 20th May 2008

Peter McGauran advised today that Racing Victoria Ltd has requested a meeting with the Federal Govt to lobby for a new import protocol from Japan. He has been verbally assured that his request will be agreed to and a meeting should take place soon. It is imperative that we get a new protocol set soon to enable any horse to travel out of Japan with normal quarantine instead of the proposed 60 day plus and via America which Bio Security Aust is trying to enforce upon us. Watch this news page for further developments. We are still taking bookings for Jungle Pocket until we get a decision.

GROUP 1 STALLION REQUIRED FOR 2008 STUD DUTIES

Hollylodge is looking to add another Group performance stallion to their stallion roster this season, he will be standing alongside TUSCANOS and JUNGLE POCKET. The maximum number of stallions in service at one time will only be 3 to ensure maximum promotion for the stallion owners. Must be commercial, straight off the track or already proven producing Group winners. Ideally situated in prime North East Thoroughbred breeding area, Hollylodge is owned and run by the Nevill family, the farm is located within 1 hour of Melbourne and has a list of high profile clients on offer for your stallion. If you are thinking of sending your stallion to stud this season give Chris Nevill a call on 03 57962495.

TAKEOVER TARGET VISITS HOLLYLODGE

We were very honoured to have a visit at Hollylodge by Takeover Target on 29th April, whilst on route to quarantine in Melboure, Takeover stopped at Hollylodge for a breather whilst two weanies were delivered to the stud. After a pick at the grass and a chat to Joe Takeover was on his way to start his overseas campaign. It was a real pleasure to see him in person and we wish Joe and Takeover all the best in their overseas racing.

JUNGLE POCKET BACK TO HOLLYLODGE IN 2008

Following a very short but productive covering season in 2007 at Hollylodge JUNGLE POCKET is set to return in 2008. The only hold up which may occur is the quarantine rules at present which need to be updated by Bio Security Australia to allow any horse into our country without having to travel via America or Singapore. At present they are enforcing a minimum 60 - 80 day quarantine which could have detrimental affects to the health of any horse travelling to Australia, this includes Stallions, mares and Racehorses from Japan. JUNGLE POCKET is limited to 100 mares in Australia and his service fee will be $9,900.00 inc gst. Discounts for multiple bookings and Group performed mares or progeny.

We are all working hard to resolve this situation asap so any support would be appreciated and can be sent via John Messara at Arrowfield to Peter McGuaran who is working on behalf of all of us.

TUSCANOS PROGENY FIRING

Versailles Angel by Tuscanos out of Paris Angel and bred by Hollylodge and sold as a weanling showed her strength by winning at Mornington on a heavy 9 track over 1220 m last week. Her trainer Michael Kent has a very high opinion of the filly and will look for a good race for her soon.

Hollylodge part owned Casa Cardoso has shown good form for his new trainer Trevor Miller on the Sunshine Coast by two wins and a second from his three starts for Trevor this year.

Over in WA Scanned has been placing without winning so far in his career and last week ventured to Belmont and ran third in town. A win is not far away for this colt.

Also with Trevor Miller is Hollylodge bred Western Pacific who made it a hat trick this time in with 3 wins in a row at the Sunshine Coast. Western Pacific is out of the unraced Durbridge mare Off The Shoulder who now resides in Qld and is in foal to Desert Sun for her new owner.

Fire Vain is racing over in Tasmania and is continuing on with her winning form and racing consistently.

City placed Tuscan Sea is currently spelling in South Australia as is Tuscademus in Victoria.

Hollylodge owned Areeiro is doing a great job of winning and placing for Alan Browell and is a consistent performer.

Overall with very few runners to the track the Tuscanos horses and  doing a grand job for their sire with a good start to this year with all horses. Interesting is that they are all sprinters so far with none winning over 1600m as yet.

Arise Aristotle

After covering over 140 mares at Lynden Park, international galloper Aristotle is moving base to Hollylodge Stud in Seymour.

A tough and versatile galloper who won at a range of distances from 1400m to 200m, Aristotle raced in five different countries from two till four with high light of his career being a victory at the highest level in the UK.

Aristotle, a 2YO Group 1 winner by Sadler's Wells, was trained by aidan O'Brien to win twice as a Juvenile including the 1999 Racing Post Trophy-G1 at Doncaster.

He returned at three to be first past the post in the Prix Greffulhe-G2 at Longchamp but was relegated by stewards.

Tranasferred to Malcolm Thwaites in Singapore after being purchased by Glenlogan Park Stud and Jacobsen Bloodstock, he began repaying his new owners immediately.

Completing his racing career in Singapore, Aristotle competed against only the best, taking out the Gr.2 Singapore New Rings Trophy.

He was also second to Bocelli in the Singapore derby, third to Silvano in the Singapore Cup and fifth behind Endless Hall, Jim and Tonic, With The Folow and Hill Of Grace in the Singapore International Cup.

His racetrack career was cut short by an untimely injury but retirement came too late in the year to properly promote his first season.

Interest from the Super VOBIS State saw Glenlogan Park transfer him to Lynden Park Stud.

Glenlogan, at that time, already had a Sadler's Wells sire in King's Theatre on its roster.

At short notice, Aristotle covered a 50 + book in 2002 and many of them must have been owner-breeder mares because only a handful went to the yearling sales.

His first crop sold up to $50,000 in 2005 with Ken Keys of Cranbourne paying that much for a chestnut colt out of the Gleam Machine mare Sleek Design.
